Title: My view on web and native.

How right you are! Another thing to note, while native apps absolutely DO give the best overall user experience, there is definitely nothing lacking in the web area for technology.

Slowly but surely, HTML5 and Webkit technologies have gone from a standstill to an absolutely amazing and usable technology in the past few years. Heck, we can develop near native full 3D games via web browser now!

The reason being is that the hard-core backend developer guys are merging the gap between HTML and computer hardware in a way that makes it easily accessible to web developers.

Some of the most fancy web sites fully utilize these technologies and will most likely become more common as the costs of developing web versus developing native apps (for more than one device. ie. iOS, Android, Windows, etc) is more cost effective. In the end, Code once, deploy once – not code each device, deploy all.

Conclusion: Perhaps right now the web can’t deliver full performance, however as we see hardware becoming cheaper and faster, theres no reason the web one day won’t be able to deliver speeds relative (if not full) to our native apps. The future lies in the web.

Meh concurred. In fact, I was left with so much less enthusiasm, I care not to even go into depth of the oh-so-many many things wrong with the new overall. Let’s just leave it at that.

In other news,
Finally splurged and got an iPad 2 wifi model about 2 weeks ago. Scored it for about $200. Practically brand new except for the date tag. It’s never left my side. I seem to be using it non-stop. Once upon a time, I couldn’t stand to be away from the computer. Now the Internet and tech come with me!

Feels like carrying around an extremely lightweight and powerful computer. Most times I don’t even notice how lightweight it really is. I just carry and forget. When I need to look something up or do something in the ever vast interwebs world, I just pull up my iPad no matter where I’m at. Since I got grandfathered into my AT&T data plan, I just tether my internet to my iPad from my iPhone with no problem.

Conclusion, I just absolutely love the dang thing!! times a billion.

Madu, thanks for your sympathy. Once I hit the village it was a wrap. While I was there, it didn’t work. I ended up using other people’s phones. I solved the problem by leaving Nigeria.

Levi, I’m with you. Sure, you CAN get a kit and build your own touchscreen laptop (reconfigure your laptop to accept touch screen inputs), but who wants to go through all the trouble of doing that AND then have a less than pristine machine?

No. I don’t want a Chromebook. No. I don’t want some crappy Windows machine. No. I don’t want a self-help touchscreen.

I want Apple to make the damn thing already!

Yeah, this one wasn’t too heavily promoted (nowadays, which films are?). I saw it because I go to the movies – a lot- and saw the trailer, so I had it in my sights. Definitely go see it. You’ll enjoy it. I’d suggest watching any of the previous films with Khan in them.
